All This Too Shall Crystalize

“This too shall pass:” an age old consolation to the masses of those in moments of strife. Along with “there are other fish in the sea,” and “there are bigger fish to fry,” "This too shall pass" has never been a satisfactory remark to me. I question their value based on the idea that they simplify the concept of “Moving On,” and moving on is my worst subject. In order to comprehend and embody the pursuit of closure, I thought of a metaphor better suited to my brain - to dissolve perhaps? to abandon? to decay? to petrify? "

To crystalize. To not only solidify, but to turn into a crisp lattice of strong geometric bonds, to become a more powerful version than before, to grow in dark, dank environments despite the conditions suggesting otherwise. To crystalize.

This drawing began with the fluid motion of the tunnel, reminding me of the wormhole depicted in Interstellar, but grew the accessory of a jagged spacetime surrounding it. The motion of the tunnel in contrast with the dense lines is a suggestion that a transition between chapters and an alleviation of pain can happen without casting away an experience, but instead locking the trouble into a worthy compartment for safe keeping.
